Client Profile: Envirocon

We recently spoke to one of our precast clients, Rahul Krishnan, Operations Manager at Envirocon, about how the Rockbond team supports what they do and their plans for the future.

Rockbond have been supplying Envirocon with their concrete release agents since 2019, when we helped them with challenges they were having with their precast block production.

The team were struggling to get a good consistent finish and also paying a lot for the release agent that they were using at the time. Rockbond worked with the production team to implement the correct application methodologies, which included trialling various different release agents from the Rockbond range to identify the product that was the most suited to Envirocon’s factory and finished product expectations.

And well as this, Rockbond provided Envirocon with significant cost savings through minimisation of product waste, to help bring their overall production costs down. Envirocon has grown significantly over the past 5 years since Rockbond have been supplying them with their release agents, and now have a strong footing in the South Island market out of their Christchurch manufacturing facility.

Tell us what solutions you provide and who for?

Envirocon is a homegrown company that provides innovative zero waste solutions, by eliminating excess concrete using a circular economy approach that closes the waste for good.

We are dedicated to helping our clients build faster, smarter and greener!

What sets you apart from others in the market?

Our concrete blocks are easy to use, with a unique interlocking system that is simple to understand, quick to install and reduces wasted time and labour.

The added bonus we provide is of course, our blocks have an incredibly low carbon footprint.

Can you share any upcoming projects or plans that you’re particularly excited about?

Envirocon has been in the works of designing new products and blocks. We are still in the prototyping phase, but we are excited to launch them soon.

What are the key challenges your organisation/industry is currently experiencing and what are your plans to overcome them?

There is always excess concrete in the construction industry, and we at Envirocon are the leading experts in New Zealand that prevent excess concrete ending up in landfills.

Can you share with us a key organisational milestone or success story?

We have saved 336,930 tonnes of concrete from ending up in landfills so far!

What’s next for your industry and what are your plans to stay ahead?

Envirocon has quite a few things in the pipeline, so definitely watch this space to see what’s coming soon!

Tell us a bit about how you’ve worked with the Rockbond team?

We were looking for a few release agent companies and none seemed to fit the bill until we discovered Rockbond

Why did you choose to work with Rockbond over others in the market?

We are looking to expand to Australia so we are hoping for Rockbond to help us in the transition to that market.

And finally (just for fun!) at Rockbond we work on a range of manmade structures of all shapes and sizes so we’re keen to find out, what have you seen that you’ve been most impressed with, or what would be on your bucket list to see?

Well I have to say the Taj Mahal in India because it’s close to home!
