City Rail Link, NZ
Currently In Construction
The City Rail Link (CRL) is NZ’s largest transport infrastructure project ever.
The CRL is a 3.45km twin-tunnel underground rail link up to 42 metres below the Auckland city centre.
Twin 3.45-kilometre-long tunnels connect downtown Auckland at Britomart with a re-developed Mt Eden station on the Western Line. Two new underground stations will open up central city access.
CRL will double the number of people within 30 minutes of central Auckland, which is New Zealand’s biggest employment hub.
When fully operational, 54,000 passengers an hour will use CRL stations at peak times. This is the rail equivalent of an additional 16 lanes of road or three Auckland Harbour Bridges.
Rockbond is supplying a wide range of products to the many different sites across the CRL project, including the new Britomart, Aotea, Karangahape, and Mt Eden Stations.
Rockbond is also supplying Wilson Precast with the release agents for the manufacture of the thousands of precast concrete segments that are being installed by the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).
Rockbond work closely with Ecoratio, who are specialist manufacturers of release agents for precast tunnel segments.
