Heritage-Grid

Heritage-Grid, part of the Rockbond family, is an FRCM structural strengthening system designed for unreinforced masonry structures (brick, block, stone, etc) and heritage buildings.

It combines a specially developed high-adhesion mortar/render with an alkali-resistant (AR) glass or carbon fibre (CFRP)  reinforcing mesh to seismically strengthen  and provide durability while preserving the integrity of heritage buildings.

Why Strengthen Heritage Structures with Heritage-Grid?

  • Earthquake Protection: Heritage-Grid enhances structural resilience in earthquakes by forming a reinforcing barrier over brick and concrete substrates
  • Waterproof Yet Breathable: Offers a rendered finish that is both waterproof and breathable, suitable for internal and external surfaces
  • Minimal Visual Impact: Provides structural benefits without compromising the historic character of buildings.
  • Customisable Application: Can be bump/spray applied for large volumes, making it flexible and efficient to use.

Key Benefits

  • Durability – Low chloride ion content (≤ 0.05%) enhances longevity.
  • Flexibility in Application – Works in temperatures from +5°C to +35°C.
  • Strong Adhesion – Bonds well to concrete substrates (>2MPa adhesion).
  • Lightweight Yet Tough – High flexural strength (>8MPa after 28 days).
  • Meets NZ Standards – Complies with NZ Standards 4210:1989.
  • Mortar is manufactured in New Zealand and is readily available.

Key Features

  • Material Composition – AR-glass mesh with SBR-Latex coating.
  • CFRP mesh option for extra high tensile strength.
  • Fine Aggregate Option – Available in a finer version (<1mm) for specific needs.
  • Lightweight Grid Design – 230 g/m² finished weight with leno weave structure.
  • Low Elongation – Less than 5% elongation ensures stability.
  • Versatile Application – Suitable for concrete and masonry reinforcement.
