Project Details: 

​Rockbond Underwater Mortar was specified for the remedial work in this iconic project carried out in 2001 & 2002. The project involved the construction of a 9 km tunnel from Penrose to central Auckland containing two new 110 kV power cables. UK Engineers working on this contract had used the Rockbond Underwater Mortar while working on the Channel Tunnel project between UK & France, and requested that it be included in the specifications.

Over a 2-year period Rockbond shipped a constant stream of one tonne pallets to the site head quarters in Penrose to remediate imperfections in the tunnels concrete work.

With a design life of greater than 200 years, Rockbond Underwater Mortar is playing a key part in making sure that the lights stay on  in Auckland for decades to come!
